Bob -played the Doctor, a holographically projected computer program devised by Starfleet as the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH). When the Starship U.S.S. Voyager was catapulted to the Delta Quadrant, the human doctor aboard was killed, and the EMH was activated to become the ship's resident physician. The virtual doctor has since become a full-fledged member of the Voyager crew.
